S. Josh Szabo, M.D., is an official physician to the United States Ski Team. He’s the experimental leader of the group and keeps the team on the leading edge of the latest technology. Dr. Szabo also serves as a faculty member of the Arthroscopy Association of North America, where he teaches other orthopedic surgeons advanced arthroscopic surgical techniques several times each year at the Orthopaedic Learning Center in Chicago.
His holistic approach to orthopedics has guided him to strive for less invasive techniques, treating complex problems with small incisions.
Dr. Szabo treats shoulders, elbows and knees surgically. When appropriate, he uses Platelet-Rich Plasma Therapy (PRP Therapy), an innovative technique in which a patient's own blood platelets are re-injected into injured soft tissue to aid healing.
He is also one of the few orthopedic surgeons in the country performing arthroscopic interpositional shoulder arthroplasty, which covers worn-out bone with membrane; this procedure is a minimally invasive alternative to metal or plastic shoulder replacement.
A South Hills native, Dr. Szabo went to the University of Denver for his undergraduate degree and Drexel University School of Medicine for his medical degree before completing a sports medicine fellowship at the Mississippi Sports Medicine and Orthopaedic Center.
Dr. Szabo practices at Tri Rivers Surgical Associates in Butler, Cranberry/Mars and North Hills.
