Total Joint Camp

Total Joint Camp is a comprehensive, pre-operative program designed as a “one-stop shop” for patient education, pre-operative testing, nursing assessment, physical therapy instruction and discharge planning for orthopedic surgery candidates. The camp eliminates multiple appointments and reduces the need to walk distances on sore joints. Patients who attend Total Joint Camp typically find themselves more prepared and less anxious for surgery, as well as more knowledgeable about what to expect during recovery.

Campers attend one patient preparation session – the session is about three hours long and includes pre-operative exercise instruction in groups of six in a relaxed environment that encourages a team approach. The camp session is scheduled about one month prior to surgery. They meet other patients having the same surgery, more than likely around the same time, which allows the sharing of questions and concerns. Often these groups will see each other during their hospital stay. Attendees receive a Total Joint Camp gift bag, including a shirt and shorts.
